See Jane Blog

This is Jane Aldridge:

She has an addictive blog and will be a name you will soon know. She is 17, has become the sweetheart of Vogue and a line of shoes at Urban Outfitters . Oh, and here is a section (drooool) of her shoe wall :

Jane has more natural style as a teenager than I did or certainly will ever have in my entire life. However, like me, part of her daily style choices are inspired in part by rebellion against a hideous school dress code.  I think most of us can relate to that trauma.
Watch out Anna . . .

Overload

Alright. There is so much deliciousness happening in music right now I can't even handle it .

First, Mika's new album is just beautiful, but that was expected. I'll never be sick of it. PLUS! Of course, I'm loving the cover Mika did of "Poker Face" ! Check it.

Oh, I was so sad when the Lady Gaga/Kanye " Fame Kills" tour was cancelled. However, with the announcement of the re-release "Fame Monster" album with EIGHT NEW SONGS and "Monster Ball" tour sans that jerkface my heart is whole again. I could go on for days about how excited I am about all the Lady Gaga news, you know that, but I'll restrain myself and move on for your sake!

I lied. But only to tell you about Rihanna's new album due out NOVEMBER 23rd! ( One day before Lady Gaga's...boo.) I've heard from various interviews that she is a new woman on this album, with a lot more aggression. I'll say. These are some of the lyrics from a rumored song called "Silly Boy" FEATURING LADY GAGA :

You comin' with those corny lines
Cant live without me

I'll get some flowers for the day that you are buried
Know people make mistakes
But I just think your ass is fake
Only thing I want from you, is for you to (STAY AWAY)

It's going to be so powerful and a huge hit! Finally, all the things we wish we heard her say months ago!

Katy Perry is going a little darker on her next album as well. She is collaborating with members of Weezer and is apparently drawing from one of my favorite albums; "I'm kind of thinking I want to do my record like a mesh between 'Lovefool' by the Cardigans and ['The Sign'] by Ace of Base. I want to make songs that people want to hold hands and roller-skate to".
Umm. YES.

Finally, it was announced today that casting will start for THE SPICE GIRLS MUSICAL.

Words can't even begin to describe the absolute festival of crazy this spectacle will be. I can't wait.

P.S- Kudos to Twilight fans who, by being persistent, got the release date of the "New Moon" soundtrack moved up to tomorrow! It's fantastic and will for sure be in my iTunes by 12:01. Proof that being an absolute lunatic can get you what you want. If only we could get them to move up the movie release date...

Too Soon?

I don't care. I want cardigans. I want piles of luxe, weird, romantic and patterned sweaters to wear for months. I found these beauties at Anthropologie :
Damn, I love Fall.

clICK: It's Not Me, It's You

My camera and I have to break up. Thousands of pictures later I'm ready for something a little more. My four musts:
  • Tons of zoom
  • It has to fit in my pocket
  • I don't want to mess with batteries
  • It has to take fantastic pictures in low light ( churches, museums & places without electricity )
After some serious comparison shopping I found my new love:

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 meets all my expectations and more. According to Amazon it has:
  • Two new My Scene settings let users assign their two most frequently used Scene modes to the setting, and with a simple switch, allow access to either scene instantly.
  • New Panorama Assist scene mode allows users to shoot a number of consistent photos, either vertically or horizontally, by aligning them according to a guide that overlaps the screen. Then using those photos and the bundled PanoramaMaker software, users can create dramatic panoramic images.
  • High-Speed Burst (Speed Priority) that fires off approx. 10 shots per second.
"The ZS3 also expands Panasonic’s popular Intelligent Auto (iA) mode with the addition of Face Recognition--a feature that "remembers" faces from previous shots. When a registered face appears in the frame, the camera will prioritize focus and exposure to capture it beautifully. With Face Recognition, when a familiar face is recorded several times, the camera will prompt the users to register the face. Once registered, if the face appears into the frame again, the camera will display the name specified for that person and prioritize focus and exposure so that the registered face is bright and sharply focused."
A feature that helps me take better pictures of myself? Um... YES! The best feature, for me, has to be the 12X optical zoom. I can never get close enough pictures when I travel and my current 3X optical zoom is so limiting! Some of the product reviews also say that if you lower the megapixel level you can get the zoom up to 22X combined digital and optical, which would be amazing.   Now, what to do with my old camera...

I Can See You Staring There From Across The Block...

I'm going to be Lady GaGa for Halloween. That's just how it's going to be. There will, no doubt, be thousands of other GaGas running around on my favorite day in parody and homage. In case you would like to wear the hottest costume of '09, ( and you should ) you'll need to know how to make your own Disco Stick:
If you can handle the semi-awkward instructions of two tweens in matching Hello Kitty outfits, then this is the video that will help you produce your most important prop.
Use it wisely.

Scent Makeover

I'm in desperate need. Somehow the signature scent I adopted when I was sixteen just doesn't cut it for these days. Trying on new perfume is fun, but because of the endless choices I usually end up resorting to playing with the most ridiculous bottles. Scentmap.com shops for you based on the scent profile of the perfume you already enjoy :
The site also guides you by showing you the top, middle and base notes that compose each perfume. Click on one of the second choices and the site provides a whole new map for you to learn about! Much more fun, much less mess!
Though I must confess, I'm very excited for the release of the new D&G Fall/Winter 2010 fragrance collection based on tarot cards :
I tried La Lune and I liked it well enough, but I want to get my hands on The Empress! I also read a fantastic, multi-page article explaining each one in detail . . . and I lost it. Does anyone else remember reading this in a magazine (  it was prob. the August issue ) ?

You Will Be Mine, Blue Booties

Christian Siriano (the man who brought FIERCE to Project Runway) has designed a line for Payless Shoes!
The blue boots are the most unexpected of the collection and have a very interesting gold pattern which doesn't display well in this picture. Pumps from a previous CS collection on the Payless website land at about $35! The collection comes out in full force in September.

I've Never Lusted After A Bottle So Much...

I hate vodka, but I love this bottle designed by Natalia Brilli. I'm sure my friends would bite the bullet for me and empty the bottle so I could fill it with better liquids...

Shit, I Love Lobsters

First Lust

I'm only so-so on Incase products. The cover I have on my phone is totally functional but the rubberized finish over hard plastic ( which initially drew me to the case) soon started to chip off and look grubby. However, this laptop case makes me willing to forgive and forget.

This collaboration between Incase, honeybee.com and uniform experiment is an excellent way to start Fall off . It is also available in neon green and black, but the black and white is the only one worth having.
This case also serves as a great example of what I expect we will be seeing soon in stores:
*Safety pins and chains
*The 80s. Good news for jackets and jewels, very bad for pants. Don't do it.
*Large rhinestones with exposed settings
*Jewel tones (especially purple) with one neon "pop" accessory. (Think plum dress, deep green bag and bubblegum pink gloves!)
*Hunter green nails
*Matte nail polish
*Pollen-yellow eyeshadow
What are your predictions?
